Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at unionhousepto@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Both PTOs and PTAs work to support students, families, and schools. A PTO is an independent group that focuses on the specific needs of its school, while a PTA is part of a larger national organization that also advocates for education at a broader level. Both play an important role in building strong school communities!

The PTO’s mission is to support and enrich the educational experience of every student by building strong connections between families, teachers, and staff. Through community events, fundraising, and volunteer efforts, the PTO helps provide resources, create memorable experiences, and foster a positive, inclusive school environment. With room for creativity and growth each year, the mission remains rooted in supporting students and strengthening the school community.

The PTO meetings are the first Thursday of the month. Our meetings will rotate between 2:30PM on campus and 5:30 PM on zoom or on campus. The meetings are a great time for parents to meet each other, but it is not mandatory!  We try to be flexible and work hard to provide multiple ways for you to engage in the PTO. If you have an idea, let us know how we can improve!

The PTO’s fundraisers helps purchase equipment and material for the school. Which benefits all of the students and all of the staff! You get to meet parents with students the same age, are involved in major decisions that impact your classroom and the school. You also get a chance to be involved in one of the best times of your child's life!

We know schedules can be busy, and there are still plenty of ways to support the PTO that fit into your time and availability! You can donate items for our fundraisers, help out at after-school events when you’re able, or attend virtual PTO meetings to share your ideas and insights. You can also connect us with local businesses or organizations that may want to partner with or support the PTO. Another great way to help is by encouraging family members to volunteer—we especially love seeing middle and high school students step up and take an active role at our schoolwide events. Every bit of support makes a difference, and we truly appreciate it!

Joining the PTO Board is a meaningful way to make an impact, and we understand that everyone has different schedules and availability. Board members typically attend monthly meetings, help plan and support events, and collaborate with other members to make decisions that benefit our school community.

Responsibilities may include helping organize fundraisers, communicating with families and staff, and supporting school programs—but the level of involvement can be shared across the team. We work together, support one another, and leave room for flexibility and creativity each year.

Serving on the board is a team effort, and while it does require commitment, it’s also a fun and rewarding way to connect, lead, and help bring memorable experiences to our students and families.
